HOW OUR DUTCH AUCTION SYSTEM WORKS
At Infinite Vehicle Sales Ltd, all Amber and Red vehicles are sold through our Dutch auction system. This method is widely used in trade disposal and public auctions and offers a transparent, fair, and competitive way to purchase vehicles.
⸻
What Is a Dutch Auction?
A Dutch auction begins with a displayed starting price that reduces in controlled steps at set intervals.
• When a buyer accepts the price currently shown, the auction ends immediately, and that buyer secures the vehicle.
• If no buyer accepts the reduction, the price continues to fall until someone chooses to purchase.
Example
A vehicle may begin at £6,000.
If unsold, the price may fall to £5,000, where the first buyer to accept that price secures the vehicle.
⸻
Why This System Is Fair
• No bidding wars
• No pressure
• Everyone sees the same price
• Buyers decide when the vehicle becomes good value
• Fully transparent price reductions
The system rewards buyers who act decisively while still allowing time for proper inspection.
⸻
Important Legal Information
Because Amber and Red vehicles are sold through a public-style Dutch auction:
• They are sold strictly on trade terms, as seen and without warranty from Infinite Vehicle Sales Ltd.
• Vehicles may be roadworthy or unroadworthy, and it is the buyer’s responsibility to fully inspect before purchase.
• Buyers must inspect the vehicle in person or sign a non-inspection waiver if choosing not to inspect.
• Under Section 2 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, a vehicle purchased through a public or trade auction—where inspection was offered—is not classed as a consumer purchase.
• Accordingly, standard consumer rights (refunds, returns, repairs, short-term right to reject, etc.) do not apply to Dutch auction trade sales.
• All sales are final once the vehicle leaves our premises.
⸻
Final Note
Our Dutch auction system allows buyers to secure vehicles at highly competitive trade prices, but also requires them to take full responsibility for inspecting and assessing the vehicle before committing to purchase.
For those with trade experience or mechanical knowledge, this system offers excellent opportunities and complete transparency throughout the buying process.
